How We Help Service Dogs

Law enforcement and Fire Rescue Service K9s play a vital role in today's policing. They have been locating criminals, uncovering drugs and explosives, and finding crucial evidence while protecting the lives of both police officers and citizens alike for many years.
During their career of public service, which lasts an average of 8-10 years, these courageous animals often suffer knee, leg, hip and back injuries while in the performance of their duties. Although treated at the time, these injuries result in a shorter life span and require further medical attention long after they retire.
Once retired, law enforcement agencies no longer provide veterinary coverage or other benefits for our K9 heroes.
Retired K9 Heroes is a non-profit organization that assists with food, supplies, and expensive medical bills, which become the responsibility of the handler, once the K9 is retired.
The goal of the Retired K9 Heroes is to provide funds through fundraisers, donations, and sponsorships. This will be used to assist active and retired K9 handlers with their retired K9. Qualified Law Enforcement handlers will be provided with a year's supply of dog food and funds to help them pay a portion of their veterinarian needs.
